Rules and Conditions

  1. Open to Canterbury nationally ranked Intermediate and Junior players only.
  2. Grading determined on rating points as at the 1st January 2017
  3. For Canterbury Pairs events only
  4. The winning Junior and Intermediate player will be the person with the most points at 4th December 2017.
  5. In the unlikely event of any disputes, they will be resolved by the elected members of the Regional Committee
  6. If there is a draw both players/pairs will be awarded the same points for that placing.
  7. If there is a draw in the final overall placings it will be broken by a) most tournaments played   b) coin toss.  If the draw is between two players who have played exclusively together throughout the competition they will jointly be awarded 1st and 2nd prize, or 2nd and 3rd prize … etc.
  8. Points will be collated and recorded by the Regional Committee with tables and results available on their website, www.canterburyregionalbridge.co.nz/
  9. There is no restriction on the number of events that must be entered. Please see the Tournament schedule for 2017 Canterbury Tournaments.
  10. An Intermediate must play with an Intermediate or Junior to qualify for points.
  11. A Junior must play with a Junior to qualify for points in the Junior league (if a Junior plays with an Intermediate they will only receive points in the Intermediate league).
  12. Prizes: Intermediate: 1st $250, 2nd $200, 3rd $150, 4th $80, 5th $50, 6th $30

Points and Rewards

  • AllCanterbury‘A’ and ‘B’ Tournaments are available for earning points (excluding the Holiday Pairs).
  • 1 point is awarded for entering and then 1 point for every pair you beat. The more entries, the more points are available: E.g. if 20 pairs enter a tournament, then 20 points are available for that tournament. 1st gets 20 points, 2nd 19, 3rd 18 etc.
  • For Juniors playing in Intermediate Tournaments, points will be allocated on the basis of overall placing. E.g. if 20 players enter a tournament (including the Intermediate players) and you get 6th with the 5 places above you being Intermediate players, you will still only get the award for 6th place i.e. 15 points.
  • For ‘A’ point and ‘All grades’ tournaments that include Open Players (and Intermediate players in the case of the Junior league) points will be allocated on the basis of overall placing. E.g. if 20 players enter a tournament (including the Open players) and you get 6th with the 5 places above you being Open players, you will still only get the award for 6th place i.e. 15 points.
